Every time people and cattle share a pen, there is risk: to the animals, to the team and to the count itself. Stocktakes have traditionally meant mustering, yarding and crews in the pens. At Greyman OPS we have spent years developing a better way.

How it works

We fly an audit-grade thermal cattle stocktake. An autonomous drone images every pen overnight by heat signature, we reconcile the count to your register, and you get a defensible headcount. No mustering, no yarding, no crew in the pens, and no disruption to feeding or daily operations.

Our autonomous solutions are GPS accurate to 1 cm [CONFIRM: “GPS accurate to 1cm” wording], with the GPS coordinates and pen name embedded in every image. That gives an auditor a clear, transparent trail from each image to each pen.

A recent example

In September 2026 we counted more than 360 pens across a 311-hectare feedlot in a single overnight window, with outputs recognised by Big 4 audit firms.

Years in the making

This platform represents years of work: refining, learning, teaching, flying, driving and a lot of coffee. We have been working with some of Australia’s biggest and best feedlot operators to eliminate stress on animals and risk to workers during stocktakes. We know every interaction with cattle in pens is dangerous to animals and staff, so we built an efficient, effective and safe way to count cattle accurately and transparently, without disrupting operations. And we are confident it costs less than the way it has been done before [CONFIRM: “MUCH cheaper” claim: keep or soften?].

The platform will keep evolving, learning and growing, and we are proud to play a small role in supporting Australian agriculture. We showcased it at BeefEx 2026 on the Gold Coast (Stand B10), alongside a sample report pack for lot feeders.
